Position Function and Duties

 

The Senior Project Manager position offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience: salary range $68,640.00 - $100,000.00.

This senior position has responsibilities to plan and execute projects of all sizes according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. Duties include, defining the project’s objectives, with oversight of quality control throughout its life cycle.  All functions are performed in accordance with the Agency’s strategy and the Innovation and Technology Department policies, procedures and guidelines with minimal direction from management.

Position duties include but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with management and project sponsor to define project scope, vision, success criteria and disseminate information to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Manage, define, document and approval of business requirements and technical solutions.
  • Prepare and update all documentation as defined in standard operating procedures and guidelines. 
  • Develop full-scale project plans, documenting and reporting on milestones as appropriate.
  • Submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes, where necessary.
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations for the core team, including sponsors.
  • Develop and manage the implementation of new project management best practices and tools in accordance with the project management principles, guidelines and methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with project teams.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members, management and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Continually manage project expectations with team members and stakeholders throughout the project, starting with completion of the project charter review at kick-off meetings.
  • Schedule and host recurring project status meetings to communicate project status to team members and management, while providing a written executive summary for executives and stakeholders.
  • Regularly maintain and deliver on the project's status and communicate to project team and management.

Qualifications

Education, Experience & Certification(s):

  • Bachelor's Degree in the field of Information Technology, Business Administration or Project Management, or 4 years of IT industry experience.
  • 4 years of experience managing Information Technology projects.
  • PMP certification a plus.
  • ITIL v4 certification a plus.
  • Or any combination of education, training and work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.

  • Proven ability to moderate meetings with documented results.
  • Proven ability for self-motivation and to be diplomatic in all situations.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship skills in a matrixed project organization.
  • Strong ability to lead multiples projects and teams across various functional areas as well as external vendors with the goal to meet critical deadlines.
