Employment Specialist

  • Location: The Arc’s Downtown Location
  • Hours: Monday – Friday Daytime Hours
  • Job Summary: Finding a meaningful job is important to all of us, but it is especially difficult for those with disabilities. In this rewarding position, you will work with individuals to identify their skills and desires, and match that with employment opportunities in the community.

As an Employment Specialist you will develop and implement individualized employment plans for people with disabilities through The Arc’s Supported Employment Program. Activities include Customized Discovery, Assessment, and Job Training to prepare and support individuals to be competitively employed. The Employment Specialist will work closely with the individual and community partners to ensure appropriate and successful job opportunities and placements. Employment Specialist will attend team meetings and submit reports on assessed progress, barriers, and needs, as required by funders.

High school diploma or GED required, associate’s degree and experience providing employment services preferred. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Valid Driver License required. Must be at least 18 to apply.

Employment Services Manager

  • Location: The Arc’s Downtown Location
  • Hours: Monday – Friday Daytime Hours
  • Job Summary: The Employment Services Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight and operational management of both the Employment Services and Quality Assurance programs. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality services to individuals with disabilities and their families by leading and supervising Employment Specialists, monitoring participant progress, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. Simultaneously, the manager implements and oversees a comprehensive quality assurance program, analyzing data to drive continuous improvement, maintain a safe and secure environment, and stay abreast of industry best practices.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field (or equivalent experience), proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, strong leadership and compliance skills, proficiency in relevant software, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to obtain a chauffeur’s license. This manager champions the rights of individuals, fosters a collaborative team environment, and ensures the organization’s adherence to all agency, state, and federal guidelines.

Day Habilitation DSP

  • Location: The Arc’s Downtown Location
  • Hours: Monday – Friday Daytime Hours
  • Job Summary: Day Habilitation DSPs are responsible for direct care and supervision of individuals with disabilities. This includes providing oversight to participants to assist in the development of skills in the area of self-help, communication, personal care, self-advocacy, recreation, and other areas defined in the participant’s care plan. Finally, this position will serve as a role model for participants in a variety of community settings.

Candidates should have effective problem solving skills, leadership qualities and strong written/verbal communication skills and the ability to teach program participants daily living skills and competencies.

  • Location: Businesses in the community
  • Hours: All shifts available
  • One on one services that assist individuals in obtaining and maintaining community employment opportunities.
  • Job Summary: A part-time Job Coach helps to support individuals with barriers to employment. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to play a key role in fulfilling our mission of making a difference in the lives of those with intellectual and related disabilities. The qualified candidate must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to represent The Arc of East Central Iowa in a professional manner at all times while developing and maintaining relationships with businesses in the community.

Desired candidate will have experience; working with individuals with intellectual and related disabilities, person centered planning, and can bring advocacy and teaching skills to support the individuals’ needs in community employment settings. Successfully mentoring individuals in the workplace, or customer service desired. Prior experience job coaching is a plus. This position is part-time. Hours vary to meet the needs of the individual’s work schedule.
