Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
- This position is located at the Aiken-Barnwell Mental Health Center, 1135 Gregg Highway, Aiken, SC 29803.
- Services are provided in the community and in patients' homes in both Aiken and Barnwell counties.
Job Purpose
- Provides evidenced based services (safe, effective and measurable) to promote and support the recovery of persons with mental illness.
Guides patients in development of skills or strategies toward achieving and maintaining good mental health. Services are provided in the patient's home and natural living environment.

Job Function
- Maintains a bill time rate of 840 hours annually.
- Ensures patients are seen in accordance with their needs.
- Completes clinical documentation using collaborative documentation.
- Ensures patient functionality is measured by the DLA-20.
- Participates in clinical supervision, treatment team meetings, and pursues professional development. and demonstrates effective use of social and interpersonal
certification of evidenced based practices. - Attends treatment team meetings.
- Reviews caseload weekly for timely discharge, engagement, transition, and follow-up.
- Completes documentation according to QA/SCDMH standards.
- Complies with corporate compliance policy and risk management plan.
- Ensures timely completion of prior authorizations.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirements:
- A Masters' degree in guidance, counseling or the social sciences or a related field.
Internal requirements:
- Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in SC and willing to work towards licensure in SC.
- Must qualify for credentialing and privileging as a mental health professional and in accordance with Quality Assurance standards and with concurrence by DMH Office of Quality Management.

Preferred Qualifications
Agency Preferences:
- One (1) year of post-graduate experience providing counseling/treatment
- Practical therapeutic knowledge of principles, methods and counseling practices and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of behavioral and mental disorders.
- Ability to listen and understand and communicate information and ideas so that others will understand.
- Knowledge of psychopathology, family dynamics, family and group psychotherapy.
- Ability to identify and effectively utilize resources available in the community to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families and representatives of other professional disciplines.
- Ability to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports.
- Routine supervision provided by supervisor, psychiatrist and monthly consultation groups.
- Employee's activities are governed by Center and SCDMH policy and procedure.
- Ability to lift 5lbs.
- Must be able to operate a state vehicle.
- Position is considered essential and may be called back during crises/disasters/emergencies.
- Services are provided in the community, patients' home, and natural living environment.
- Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
