Conducts coding education based on audit findings. Acts as the coding and documentation resource for CHST providers. Assists in developing action plans in response to identified coding and documentation issues. Cross trained in coding and billing of facility technical and clinician professional services.</p><p><b>Responsibilities</b>:<br></p><ul><li>CODING AUDITING: Performs continuous monthly clinician professional documentation coding/billing audits, follow up work plan audits, coding risk assessment audits and special request audits to assure appropriate and compliant documentation, coding and billing practices are is maintained to support all charged services and will assists in developing and implementing appropriate work plans if necessary. Knowledgeable in coding and billing for both outpatient technical and clinician professional services.</li><li>CODING EDUCATION: Performs the initial professional coding and documentation training and orientation for new CHST providers. Provides coding training and coaching based on audit results to providers and service line staff. Conducts coding and documentation training annually or as often as necessary per request of management, providers or service line staff. Acts as coding and documentation subject matter expert for management, providers and service line staff. Familiar with State and Federal coding and billing guidelines/regulations.</li><li>POLICY AND PROCEDURE DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT: Assists in developing and revising policies and procedures for provider professional coding, documentation and billing to assure compliance with state and federal coding, billing and documentation regulatory requirements.</li><li>Participates on committees or work groups.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Essential</b>:<br></p><ul><li>Certified Professional Coder</li><li>Certified Outpatient Coder</li><li>Cert Coding Spec-Phys Based</li><li>Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice</li></ul><br> <p>Other information:<br><b>WORK EXPERIENCE</b><br></p><ul><li>At least 3 years Equivalent combination of education and/or experience in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Operations, Coding, Nursing, Case Management, or experience as a Physician - required</li><li>At least 3 years professional auditing and coding experience in a provider-based setting - preferred</li><li>Moderate to Advanced professional coding experience in more than one specialty (i.e., Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Cardiology, ENT, etc.) - preferred</li><li>Comprehensive understanding of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 codes - required</li><li>Basic understanding of revenue process, managed care contracts, reimbursement and professional fee schedules - preferred</li></ul><br><p><b>EDUCATION</b></p><br><ul><li>Two-year associate's degree or equivalent experience - required</li><li>Four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - preferred</li></ul><br><p><b>LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS</b></p><br><p></p><ul><li>Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist - Professional (CCS-P) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) - required</li><li>Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - preferred</li></ul><p></p><br><br><p></p> <p>A Place Where You Belong<br> </p><p>We put our people first.
