The Health Insurance Exchange (HIE) is a local employee benefits agency and strategic partner to brokers, employers, and insurance carriers across Texas and surrounding markets. We specialize in innovative employee benefits solutions—including level-funded and self-funded medical plans—that deliver cost savings, improve employee health outcomes, and help our broker partners grow.

With deep carrier relationships and a strong presence in Texas, we are rapidly expanding our North Texas footprint. We are seeking a high-energy, consultative Sales Consultant to join our team and build lasting broker and employer relationships.

Role Overview

As a Sales Consultant, you will be responsible for driving new business development and managing relationships with employers and brokers in the North Texas market. You’ll consult with clients on health insurance funding strategies, compliance requirements, and benefit design—while leveraging HIE’s partnerships with leading carriers like UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Baylor Scott & White, Sana Benefits, and more. This is an onsite position in the Dallas-Forth Worth Metroplex area.

This is a sales-focused role with the support of a dedicated GA team for quoting, enrollment, and ongoing client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect and build relationships with brokers, employers, CPAs, and community partners in the North Texas region.
  • Educate employers and advisors on level-funded, partially self-funded, and fully insured health plan strategies.
  • Develop tailored benefit plan recommendations aligned with client goals, budgets, and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with HIE’s internal quoting, operations, and enrollment teams to deliver high-touch service and timely results.
  • Drive revenue growth by closing new business and supporting renewal retention.
  • Represent HIE at industry events, networking functions, and community engagements.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of sales experience in employee benefits, health insurance, or related financial services.
  • Active Texas Life & Health Insurance license required (or ability to obtain quickly).
  • Strong understanding of group medical funding models (fully insured, level-funded, self-funded).
  • Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales goals.
  • Excellent communication, consultative selling, and relationship-building skills.
  • Entrepreneurial drive with the ability to work independently while supported by a GA team.

  • Salary Range* - $71,250- $95,000 annually (depending on experience) plus commissions.
