Workforce Accommodations Specialist II *Hybrid* id-8451
About the position
The Workforce Accommodation Specialist II will play a crucial role in facilitating workplace accommodations for employees with disabilities, ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This position requires close collaboration with employees, healthcare providers, and employers to explore and implement effective accommodations that enable employees to perform their essential job functions. The specialist will manage the entire ADA accommodation lifecycle, which includes the initial request, medical certification, evaluation of return-to-work accommodations, and ongoing communication to ensure successful implementation and follow-up. In this role, the specialist will evaluate requests for accommodations, manage a caseload of open requests, and engage with various stakeholders, including medical professionals and HR business partners. They will document accommodation requests and facilitate the interactive process to determine the most effective solutions. Staying current on state and federal laws regarding the ADA and related legislation is essential, as is providing education on ADA compliance to both employers and employees. The specialist will also partner with the Job Accommodation Network (JAN) to explore accommodation options and will be responsible for maintaining confidentiality and protecting personal health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. This position is not only about compliance but also about fostering an inclusive workplace culture where employees with disabilities can thrive. The Workforce Accommodation Specialist II will be expected to demonstrate strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities, all while working independently and managing multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate requests for accommodations under the ADA.
- Manage a caseload of open accommodation requests.
- Engage employees, medical professionals, supervisors, and HR Business Partners to assist employees with disabilities who require workplace accommodations.
- Document the employee's request for accommodation and facilitate the interactive process between the employee and their employer.
- Engage with medical vendors to clarify and validate the request for accommodation.
- Assist Employers with the development of essential function job descriptions.
- Stay current on both State and Federal laws and regulations surrounding the ADA and other relevant legislation.
- Provide ADA specific education to employers and employees.
- Partner with the Job Accommodation Network (JAN) to explore effective accommodation options.
- Maintain and protect personal health information, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.
Requirements
- BS/BA in Vocational Rehabilitation or a similar field.
- Experience in RTW Services, Labor Relations, Absence Management, Disability Claim Management, or Project Management.
- Experience with ADA and familiarity with FMLA.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Sound facilitation skills and strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong organizational skills.
