Weyerhaeuser Longview Lumber in Longview, Washington has an immediate opening for a Journey Level Saw Filer. The successful candidate must be willing to work multiple shifts including nights and weekends. This is a bargaining unit position in the International Assn. of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Woodworkers Local Lodge W536.

Key Functions:

  • Fitting round and band saws.
  • Use filing shop equipment to do calibration and maintenance.
  • Do hard tipped welding (alloy).
  • Tension and level round saws and band saws.
  • Perform and assist with saw change service.
  • Perform some operations preventative maintenance including inspecting equipment for signs of wear and damage and recognize unsafe conditions.
  • Understand planned and preventative maintenance process.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Journey filing experience with a minimum of three years in a sawmill environment.
  • Understand internal quality control and machine alignment procedures (preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership in mill safety processes.
  • Have strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skill.
  • Ability to effectively team with others while implementing process changes in a rapid-pace work environment.
  • Consistently demonstrate a strong commitment to safety values.
  • Produce quality work product and capacity to adapt to and learn new technology.
  • Exposure to CNC equipment and computer skills is desirable.
  • Qualified in fitting round and band saws.
  • Experience with filing shop equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Experience in tensioning and leveling round saws / band saws.
  • Working knowledge of hard tipped welding (alloy).
  • Basic understanding of planned / preventative maintenance process.
  • Personal tools will be the responsibility of the successful candidate.

This position is designated by WY as a safety-sensitive position. Please be advised that due to the designation of this position as safety-sensitive, you will be subject to pre-employment testing for cannabis and its metabolites.

Compensation: Your wages and benefits are set by the labor agreement between Weyerhaeuser and the union representing employees at this work site. Effective June 2, we are targeting a pay range of $35.765 to $40.340 per hour based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience.
