As a Specimen Accessioner, you will play a crucial role in the process of receiving, identifying, and preparing samples for laboratory testing. Receive and process incoming specimens from various sources, ensuring accuracy and proper handling. Accurately identify and label specimens according to established protocols. Prepare and package specimens for laboratory testing, adhering to proper safety and handling procedures. Enter specimen information into computer systems accurately and efficiently. Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure the integrity of specimens and the safety of laboratory staff. Communicate any discrepancies or issues with specimens to the appropriate parties in a timely manner. Follow all standard operating procedures and safety protocols to ensure quality results and compliance with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with laboratory staff to prioritize and manage workload, ensuring efficient and timely processing of specimens. Assist in the training and orientation of new Specimen Accessioners as needed. Continuously monitor and improve processes to increase accuracy and efficiency in specimen accessioning. Follow all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to maintain high standards of laboratory services. Maintain knowledge of laboratory policies, procedures, and testing methodologies. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
