PPG is adding an Aerospace S&T Research Scientist as part of our growing team at our Sylmar, CA R&D facility. In this role you will perform synthetic urethane chemistry leading new developments in polymeric materials for Aerospace Transparencies.
You will need experience or a level of tenacity that will aid them in quickly developing expertise in resins, urethanes, high clarity and uniform optics, impact resistant materials and related manufacturing process implementation. You will also be expected to able to utilize their experiences to identify, propose, and execute new experiments to expand PPG's Aerospace Transparency capabilities.
In this role you will work on-site at our Sylmar, CA R&D facility and report directly to the Senior S&T Research Chemist on the team.

- Demonstrate use of scientific method for experimentation, observations.

- Build productive business relationships with suppliers, marketing/ sales, customers and within the broader PPG Technical community.
- Follow corporate policies and government regulations by compliance with established standards on business conduct, environmental issues, EEO.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science or related major required
- Experience with statistical tools, design of experiments, and wet chemistry required
- Academic lab experience required
- Experience with polymer science strongly preferred
This position will pay between $70,000 - $80,000 based on experience.
