Senior Employee Relations Manager id-9253

About the position

As Senior Employee Relations Manager, you will architect policies and practices that enable us to navigate complex employee situations - ranging from workplace conflicts, performance issues, complaints and investigations - at scale with equity in mind. You will provide guidance to the People teams and across the business on a global scale to ensure employment matters are effectively managed and the appropriate policies and practices are in place to facilitate consistency, fairness and objectivity. You will collaborate internally to resolve employee relations matters and ensure that concerns and challenges are handled in a responsive, sensitive and fair manner. You will partner with People Partners and Legal to create and implement standard approaches, processes and resources for employee relations and workplace compliance. This role is crucial to helping the organization proactively increase manager effectiveness, employee experience, and trust. You will help us adopt a more proactive, data-driven approach to organizational health issues with a dual focus on manager education and employee advocacy. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and developing best practices in employee relations and workplace compliance. You will develop resources and tools for Fastly's People team to manage various aspects of employment and compliance, including employee counseling and engagement, documentation standards and practices, policy interpretation and application, performance management methodologies, investigations, and responses to other sensitive work-related issues. You will also provide expertise, guidance, and coaching on preventing, addressing, and resolving employee issues with leaders, managers, and HR partners. Your responsibilities will include improving existing employment policies, developing and drafting new policies, and creating communications and training materials to educate the company on new and revised policies, processes, and programs. Additionally, you will respond to and investigate concerns and complaints, oversee investigations, and provide status updates to executives, ensuring oversight and governance of policies and practices globally.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in employee relations, investigations, employment law, and workplace compliance.
  • Proven history of responding to and effectively resolving complex employee situations.
  • Experience in partnering with HR and legal teams to develop employment-related policies and programs.
  • Expert analytical skills; uses data to form hypotheses and influence decisions.
  • Strong business and people acumen, along with conflict resolution and facilitation skills.
  • Consultative approach with a track record of advising stakeholders on employee relations issues.
  • Maintains objectivity and demonstrates empathy in complex situations.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage and prioritize competing priorities.
  • In-depth understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues.
