Property Risk Control Specialist id-9286

About the position

The Senior Risk Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing the Property Technical Discipline within an assigned territory. This role involves conducting risk assessments, providing consultation to clients and staff, and identifying training needs for regional specialists. The position serves as a technical resource for Risk Control Consultants and Underwriters, handling complex assignments and mentoring others while influencing clients to implement risk control recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct specialist Risk Assessment surveys at complex client locations to identify potential hazards and risk factors.
  • Document findings and recommendations for Account Executives and clients.
  • Consult with clients on hazard control methods to mitigate losses.
  • Provide technically correct and flexible solutions to meet both Travelers' and clients' needs.
  • Influence clients to implement risk control recommendations.
  • Serve as a technical expert resource to Risk Control Consultants and Underwriters.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with underwriting teams, brokers, and clients.
  • Conduct research for underwriters or clients on relevant technical subjects.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory environments and emerging issues in the technical discipline.
  • Function as an Account Consultant for certain National Property accounts.
  • Maintain timely communications with Technical Director and Risk Control staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Five years of experience in fire science, technical science, engineering discipline, or property fire protection.
  • Exceptional technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical training experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of insurance products, services, and risk selection practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the technical specialist discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • 8 or more years of Property/Highly Protected Risk (HPR) experience preferred.
  • Experience in technical training preferred.
