Job Summary/Description:

WCTV, the dominant #1 CBS affiliate in Tallahassee, is looking for our next newscast producer. Our producers go beyond simply stacking a show. To qualify, you must demonstrate that you possess foundational skills and can creatively craft a rundown.

The producer works closely with news managers and anchors to craft our newscasts, which emphasize local content.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Participating in daily editorial meetings and evaluating pitches for potential lead stories
  2. Ordering stories in the rundown with emphasis on happening now, local and live elements
  3. Collaborating with reporters and anchors on story concepts
  4. Selecting showcase elements which could include maps, graphics, and video
  5. Writing scripts with a focus on accuracy and deliverability
  6. Making graphics and lower thirds for stories (and keeping them free of typos)

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. An internship in a commercial newsroom
  2. Knowledge of video editing and scripting software
  3. Working knowledge of web and social platforms
  4. Ability to travel regionally and nationally
