About the position
As a Global Supply Manager for Metallics at Nikola Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Supply Chain and purchasing team. This position is based onsite in Phoenix, AZ, and is integral to the development of our revolutionary Fuel Cell and Battery Electric vehicles. You will be responsible for steering the sourcing, costing, negotiating, and strategic planning functions for the Metallic category. Your work will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive early supplier engagement throughout the development phases and product qualifications. Building strong strategic relationships with supply partners is essential to ensure that project timing and cost targets are met effectively. In this role, you will determine the total cost of ownership for your commodities by understanding the underlying cost drivers that support new business awards. Your primary goal will be to secure the best procurement solutions that align with customer needs and the relevant Procurement Strategy.

You will help establish and manage Nikola's supply base, ensuring that the best suppliers are selected to support all development, prototyping, and production activities. This includes leading all RFP/RFQ activities and managing contractual discussions with suppliers, such as Supply Agreements, NDAs, and SOWs. You will analyze supplier proposals and negotiate all aspects of quotations to drive down the total cost of ownership while ensuring world-class pricing. Additionally, you will manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and take necessary steps to address any gaps or issues that arise. Supporting the supplier quality team in development, qualification, and quality issue resolution will also be part of your responsibilities. You will recommend and present sourcing strategies to leadership that meet business objectives and timelines, while building relationships across multiple teams, including Finance, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality, to ensure program timelines are achieved.
Responsibilities

- Support supplier quality team efforts for supplier development, qualification, and quality issue resolution.

- Build relationships across multiple teams (Finance, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality) to ensure program timelines are achieved.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or Engineering is required; a master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of purchasing-related experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all levels (verbal and written).
- Effective negotiating skills with problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with ERP systems.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting critical timing schedules.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and experience sourcing frame assemblies, castings, and metallic systems.
- New Product Introduction experience is a plus.
- Experience working in Automotive, Commercial Vehicle, or Electric Vehicle Start-up is a plus.

- Experience in New Product Introduction.
